In short: We only collect the information you choose to send us. We use it to answer your questions and deliver your website, and we never sell it.
The Website Builder ("we", "us", "our") provides website design, domain registration, hosting, business email and website maintenance services. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through this website and in the course of providing our services. We aim to follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
When you fill out our contact form or email us, we collect what you provide, which may include:
- Your name and business name
- Email address and phone number
- The plan you're interested in, and any domain name you have or want
- Details about your project and anything else you include in your message
If you use "Sign in with Google"
You can create or sign in to your client account with your Google account instead of a password. This is optional, and you can always use an email address and password instead.
- What we receive: with your permission, Google shares your name, your email address (and whether Google has verified it) and your Google account ID. We ask only for the basic "openid", "email" and "profile" permissions. We never see your Google password, and we don't get access to your Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, calendar or any other Google data.
- How we use it: only to sign you in and to create or find your client account, to show your name in your dashboard, and to send you service emails about your account, website and billing. Your Google account ID is how we recognise you the next time you sign in.
- How we store it: your name, email address and Google account ID are kept in our account database on our hosting provider's servers, protected by encrypted (HTTPS) connections and limited access. We don't store Google access tokens after you've signed in.
- Sharing: we don't sell Google user data, don't use it for advertising, and don't share it with anyone except the service providers described in section 3 where needed to run your account, or where the law requires it.
- Keeping and deleting it: we keep this information while you have an account with us. You can ask us to delete your account and Google sign-in information at any time by emailing [email protected], and you can remove our access in your Google account settings.
Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
If you become a customer, we will also collect the information needed to deliver your service, such as billing contact details, the content and branding for your website, and the details required to register a domain in your name.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting server automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the date and time. When you submit the contact form, we also record your IP address and the submission time to help prevent spam and abuse.
2. How we use your information
- To respond to your questions and send you the information or quote you asked for
- To set up, deliver, maintain and support your website, domain, hosting and email
- To send service-related messages, such as project updates, renewal notices and billing
- To protect our website and services against spam, fraud and misuse
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations
We will not send you marketing emails unless you've agreed to receive them, and you can opt out at any time.
3. When we share your information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only when needed to provide our services:
- Service providers that help us operate, such as our web hosting and email providers. They may only use your information to provide services to us.
- Domain registrars and registries. When we register a domain on your behalf, the registrar requires owner contact details. Some of these details may be published in public domain (WHOIS) records unless privacy protection is available for that domain extension.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, customers or the public.
Some of our service providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. When that happens, your information may be subject to the laws of that country.
4. Cookies & third-party services
We don't use advertising cookies. If you create an account, we use an essential cookie to keep you signed in.
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website, for example which pages are viewed and how people found us. It uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you visit, your approximate location, and your device and browser type. We use this information in aggregate to improve our website and don't use it to identify you. If your browser sends a "Global Privacy Control" or "Do Not Track" signal, no data is sent to Google Analytics. You can also opt out on any website with Google's opt-out browser add-on.
Fonts. The fonts on our website are hosted on our own server, so loading them doesn't connect your browser to Google or any other font service.
You can read more about how Google handles data in Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Client websites & domains
When we build and host a website for a customer, that customer is responsible for the personal information collected through their own website (for example, through its contact forms) and for having an appropriate privacy policy. We handle that information only on the customer's behalf and only as needed to provide our services.
Domains we register for customers are registered in the customer's name, and the customer keeps ownership of their domain and original content.
6. How long we keep your information
We keep inquiry information for as long as needed to respond and follow up on your request. For customers, we keep information for the length of the service relationship and afterwards for as long as required for legal, tax and accounting purposes. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.
7. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access limited to the people who need it, and reputable hosting providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices & rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
- Stop sending you marketing messages
- Withdraw consent you've given us, subject to legal or contractual limits
To make a request, email us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on it, and we will respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
9. Children
Our services are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
